AddComm, an external supplier to EasyPark attacked by ransomware
Published: 5 June om 15:00 CET
On May 31, we were informed by our supplier, Riverty, that their supplier AddComm was attacked by ransomware. This attack, which has affected many companies in the Netherlands, has also affected a limited number of EasyPark customers in the Netherlands. EasyPark’s systems were not affected by the ransomware, and there are no indications that unauthorized parties have misused any of the compromised data.
The attack resulted in the unauthorized access of some personal data, i.e. first and last name, customer ID (customer number) and billing address. No financial information or bank details were accessed. EasyPark is now in the process of informing affected customers. If you have received a notification through SMS and in your EasyPark App, this means your above mentioned data was part of the affected data.
We are working diligently with our supplier Riverty and measures have been taken to prevent misuse of the data as much as possible. We understand that you may be concerned, so if you would like to speak to someone, you can contact our customer support team on tel: +31 208080490 or datalek@easypark.net who will do all they can to help.We very much regret the situation at our supplier’s and apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.
What measures have been taken?
EasyPark is reaching out to affected customers, and Riverty and EasyPark have reported the data breach to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
What can I as a customer do?
As always, you should be mindful of phishing attempts, which are unfortunately common.
Don’t open emails from unknown senders. Don’t click on links or attachments in emails or SMS texts from senders you don’t know, don’t share any details over the phone from unknown callers, hang up if you don’t trust the situation.
EasyPark will never ask customers to:
share security codes
send bank cards
transfer money
use a link in an email or text message to transfer money
How should I as a customer act if I receive an EasyPark invoice from Riverty?
It was a Riverty supplier who was attacked by ransomware. Invoices coming from Riverty are handled as before the incident. In case of questions regarding invoices, you need to contact Riverty directly.
* Footnote: A small selection of users may (also) be contacted by Riverty directly.
